Forced oxygenation?

Post by john mills » Fri Dec 04, 2009 10:57 pm

An idea occurred to me today while oxygenating the latest brew. How about force oxygenating?
Bubbling pure oxygen through a wand for a couple of minutes seems like a waste of gas. Using an aquarium pump for 15 minutes is a waste of time.
Why not force some oxygen into a Cornie keg like we do with carbon dioxide, and shake the keg a couple of minutes to dissolve the oxygen into solution? It would seem that this would be more efficient for both time and resources.
I've heard that too much oxygen is likewise bad for yeast health, so the forced oxygen would have to be conservative on pressure and shaking time.

Has anybody heard of such a thing?
Would some experimentation be in order?
You gonna buy one, or be one?
.....I'm gonna be one!

I'm sure that would work but that's extra cleaning unless you are going to use it for a fermenter right?
What would Jesus Brew?
