Alzheimers Assco. Event - Rhythm and Brews
For those interested, this is the text of the Alzheimer's Association event that will be taking place Friday, June 12th. This will be a fairly small event and preliminary plans are to share a jockey box with Turoni's. Please post here if you are willing to donate some beer and/or work the event. I don't think we will need more than 3 beers on tap (bottles) and maybe some for backup.

I'll donate some beer. Not sure what yet, but right now I have 9 kegs with something to drink in them, 10 if you count root beer!
You gonna buy one, or be one?

Re: Alzheimers Assco. Event - Rhythm and Brews
I talked to Christina and she said Kirbys will be open pretty much all day for us. She would like us to be set up by 6:30. She had also requested a list of what we would be bringing. If you plan on bringing a keg to this , please post what you will be bringing so I can get this list to her as soon as possible.
She said tickets are available at the door for $35 and this includes an entry into the auction.
Dwayne: Watermelon Wheat
Alvey/Weber: Possible Hefeweizen (if it's any good)
I'm sending out a separate email on this also just to catch everyone.
Thanks

Chris,
I won't be at the event but I'll donate the remainder of the keg of wheat I had at the meeting Wednesday. There is at least 2 gallons, possibly 2 1/2 gallons left.
If there aren't enough kegs donated, I'll dig up something else.

Re: Alzheimers Assco. Event - Rhythm and Brews
Clarified on tickets. Anyone who is donating/serving beer can get a pass in free. Those who would like to volunteer to help out otherwise will receive free entrance and beer tasting, etc. I think the food is the only thing you can't get if you go that route. Of course 'buying' a full price ticket is a fine, charitable, and tax-deductible gesture as well.
We will need a couple of tubs if you have them to put kegs in. Also if anyone has any display items for our table that would be great. I asked for express clarification on the donation bucket and they said they'd rather we not.

I would like to hang out and help.(I have a valid server's permit) The watermelon wheat should be ready. I can bring some CO2 with a 4-port manifold. Will they be providing the ice?

Thanks for the offer Don, but they said they will have ice there for us. I warned her that they need more than they think. The tubs, however, would be greatly appreciated.

I've got us a small 36"x20" vinyl sign made up. It's got a couple of grommets for hanging.
I'll bring a batch of brochures and cards as well.
At this point I don't think I can stay but I'll bring my orange gear to work just in case.

Re: Alzheimers Assco. Event - Rhythm and Brews
A very successful event. Thanks to everyone who donated their time and/or tasty beers to this event. Thanks again to Chris Norrick for making the new sign and bringing the brochures by.
It ended up the Jack and Dutch set up our big orange rig (thanks guys for that) which turned out to be just perfect for the very high ceilings at Kirby's. We ended up having a full 12-beer (and one Root Beer) menu with ours and Turoni's (Turonis'
) with Jack's being the big sellers followed by Dwaynes World Famous Panty Dropper (err, I mean, Watermelon Wheat) and Don's Old Ale. I think the Fantome Yeast Saison duel was a draw ... some preferred the dryness of Dwayne's, me included, and some liked the lighter color of the Alvey/Weber version. Nate & Brad's IPA was well-received... even by the ladies. Several comments that the Root Beer was the best root beer folks had ever had. All in all, every beer was good and many guests were impressed that we actually made this ourselves.
The New Albanian was there as well. He had a Brown Porter and American Bitter (or something like that) ... as well as some off-the-menu growlers of Hoptimus. Of course I like the Hoptimus, but the lighter-style brown porter was a nice suprise to me too. He did say that we were the most organized brew club he's ever seen, including his home-town clubs, which was a nice compliment.
In talking to Christina, it seems they were very pleased with the turn-out and plan to move the event to a larger venue next year. They were very appreciative of everything we contributed and would certainly like us back next year.
Thanks to everyone for making this a great event.
